It is expected that at the end of this unit the student will be able to:

• identify the importance of protecting data in the business world and the basic concept of firewalls in relation to data protection.
• give examples of common methods employed to protect organisations from the threat of computer viruses.
• Identify common methods of data backup and restoration, the differences between them, and how they are used
• identify the detrimental effects a computer virus can have on an organisation.
• identify the major software licensing groups for software licensing.
• give a basic description of the Data Protection Act.
